You are That. Believe in Yourself

The last article’s self-reflection exercises would have revealed the several layers of your
thoughts, emotions, and intentions, and the why’s, the when’s and how’s of these as well.
You may not have answers to all, but you surely would have known that some of the
patterns of your thinking or feeling were very compelling and recurring. A lot of your
unnecessary thoughts, disempowering beliefs and entangling emotions can be corrected,
if only you ask yourself:

  • What is the purpose of my life?
  • What am I expected to do while I live on this earthly plane?

Once you get clarity on these, your thoughts, ideas, words and actions would automatically align to your ultimate purpose.

Sri Krishna advocates svadharma for all in the bhagavad gīta. Even as you perform your
prescribed duties, there is one common, highest, non-negotiable duty that everyone must
commit to and that is to enquire and realise ‘who we truly are.’ The indubitable truth is
that ‘We are Divine’ and to realise, experience and live this truth is the only purpose of
human birth.

What is Divinity? Who is God?
God is within and around you, in everything and in everyone, as a sublime presence—recall those moments in your life, when you felt happy for no reason, when you felt a strong sense of unconditional love towards someone, when the deepest core in you was touched and moved beyond words, when you were left in awe at the beauty of the nature around you.

These states of being are the true you – the expressions of the Divine within you. You
just need to open your eyes and see the splendour of the colourful and fragrant flowers
that blossom around you every morning. Listen to the chirping and cooing of the birds in
sweet melodies. Feel the touch of the cool breeze on your skin bringing soothing comfort
on a sunny day. Enjoy the laughter and pranks of the innocent children in every street
corner. There is no place on earth where God’s presence cannot be felt.

Love and compassion, kindness and concern, happiness and peace are the innate nature
of very human and this is what is God. It is a conscious presence which is nothing but
the love and goodness within you. Believe in yourself.
