Timeless Wisdom for Modern Life: Sathya Darpan Lecture Series Draws to a Close

Having inspired thousands during the One World One Family World Cultural Festival 2026, the Sathya Darpan: lectures on Ashtavakra Gita by Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai concluded with a special three-day programme held from 18 to 20 July 2026 as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Sathya Sai Grama

Through these final sessions, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai once again invited devotees, students and seekers to reflect on the timeless wisdom of the scriptures and discover the path to lasting inner freedom.

The first day of the programme featured a thought-provoking discourse by Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, who reflected on the concluding chapters of the Ashtavakra Gita. Speaking on consciousness, detachment and inner freedom, He reminded everyone that true peace is found not by changing the world around us, but by transforming the world within.

“The world changes when we change the way we see it. You cannot always change the world around you, but you can always change yourself.”

The evening saw Rasaprasna: Quiz on Ashtavakra Gita 2026, bringing together students, staff and devotees for an engaging celebration of learning. Revisiting key teachings from the Ashtavakra Gita discourses during the One World One Family World Cultural Festival, Sadguru’s One World One Family World Tour, and the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Annual Sports and Cultural Meet 2026, the quiz beautifully reflected Sadguru’s message that learning should always be a joyful experience.

The second day’s discourse centred on the qualities of a true seeker. Drawing from the lives of King Janaka, Sant Kabir and Swami Vivekananda, Sadguru reminded everyone that wisdom is cultivated through humility, reflection and practice.

He also shared that our greatest victories are not over the world, but over ourselves. By overcoming selfishness, ignorance and arrogance, we begin to recognise the Divine presence that unites all.

“You can listen to wisdom for years and still be the same person. Information fills the mind; only practice transforms it.”

The final day of the programme marked the conclusion of the lecture series, with Sadguru sharing reflections on the essence of the scripture. Speaking about the Self, awareness and liberation, He reminded everyone that lasting peace is found by turning within and recognising the truth that has always been present.

As the series drew to a close, Sadguru reminded everyone that the wisdom of the Ashtavakra Gita is not meant to remain as philosophy, but to be lived every day. He encouraged seekers to move beyond intellectual understanding, embrace self-enquiry, and recognise the truth that has always existed within. True freedom, He explained, comes not from changing the world around us, but from awakening to our own true nature.

More than a series of discourses, Sathya Darpan became a journey of self-discovery for countless seekers. By presenting the wisdom of the Ashtavakra Gita in a simple and practical manner, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai made these timeless teachings accessible and relevant to everyday life, encouraging everyone to pause, reflect and look within.

In a world often driven by distractions and constant change, such wisdom is more valuable than ever. The lectures reminded us that lasting peace, freedom and fulfilment are not found in external achievements, but through self-awareness, humility and the courage to discover our true nature.

The following verse from the Ashtavakra Gita beautifully captures the essence of the teachings shared throughout the Sathya Darpan lecture series.

“You are ever pure and untouched by anything. Why then seek to renounce? Dissolve your identification with the body and the mind and abide in your true Self.”
