Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Sri Lanka Celebrates 1500 Free Cardiac Interventions
In the heart of Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province, a remarkable institution stands as a testament to compassionate healthcare. The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Batticaloa, founded under the visionary guidance of Sri Madhusudan Sai, has achieved a remarkable milestone: 1500 free catheterization lab interventions in just 15 months.
This achievement, completed on August 20th 2024, is not just a number. It represents 1500 lives touched, 1500 families given hope, and 1500 reasons to believe in the power of compassionate healthcare.
Dr. Ramesh K Rao, Medical Director of the hospital, shared his heartfelt thoughts on this accomplishment:

The significance of this achievement cannot be overstated. Prior to the inauguration of the state-of-the-art catheterization lab facility at Sanjeevani Hospital last year, both patients and doctors from the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital had to travel over 400km to Jaffna for this life-saving procedure. Many patients, already burdened with long waitlists, were unable to make this arduous journey.
By providing crucial cardiac care right in the heart of the Eastern region, with no billing counter in sight, the Sanjeevani Hospital has impacted countless lives. It stands as the first-ever catheterization lab facility for the entire Eastern Region of Sri Lanka, truly serving as a testament to the endless compassion of Sri Madhusudan Sai.
Dr. Rao extended deep gratitude to several key contributors. He acknowledged the cardiologists and staff of Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, whose expertise and collaboration have set new standards in patient care. He also thanked the entire staff of Sanjeevani Hospital, from healthcare workers to administrative and support staff, for their tireless efforts. Dr. Rao recognised the numerous supporting organisations that have provided resources, expertise, and encouragement. Special appreciation was given to the donors, whom he described as ‘the backbone of all our activities.’
Above all, Dr. Rao expressed eternal gratitude to Sri Madhusudan Sai: “His vision and compassion have brought this cardiac care hospital into being, which is serving the people of the Eastern Province and the entire country. It is through his guidance and selfless dedication that we are able to continue this noble mission of providing free cardiac care to those who need it most.”
