Madam Halimah Yacob, the 8th President of Singapore presides over Sai Symphony Orchestra’s Performance in Singapore

Sunday, 24 September 2023: Singapore’s first woman president, Madam Halimah Yacob, along with Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai and other dignitaries including Dr Lim Wee Kiak – Member of Parliament, Sembawang GRC and Mr BP Yap – President of the Sunshine Welfare Action Mission (or SWAMI HOME) witnessed a scintillating symphony performance by 65 students of the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam Group of Institutions at the Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore this evening.

The Sai Symphony Orchestra comprises of students from Grade 8 all the way upto the University level, many of whom come from remote rural villages and underprivileged backgrounds. The journey of the Orchestra began in 2014, when it was just a small brass band. Year after year, strength to strength, it has grown, and today – this Orchestra stands as India’s youngest and LARGEST symphony orchestra comprising of students.

The Orchestra was ably led by Mr Dimitris Lambrianos, the accomplished Greek-American multi-instrumentalist, who has trained all the students. The Orchestra presented a repertoire of pieces from around the world, from different genres across different time periods, and indeed it was truly a display of dedication, resolve, gratitude, and love.
