The bhagavad gīta says that the best service that one can do is to be an example worth
emulating. What kind of an example? The simplest answer to this is – the kind that we
would like to see in others, or we expect from others. When we embody noble qualities
and live according to higher principles, others are inspired to do the same. By being a
positive role model, we can influence and uplift those around us.
To be an example worth emulating, it is important to live a life of integrity and
authenticity. Align your thoughts, words, and actions with your values and principles.
Practice kindness, compassion, and empathy towards others. Empathy is the ability to
understand and share the feelings of another person. It involves putting yourself in
someone else’s shoes and experiencing their emotions and perspectives. Empathy allows
us to connect with others on a deeper level, show compassion, and offer support. It is an
important quality to cultivate as it helps in building strong relationships, resolving
conflicts, and promoting understanding and kindness.

To cultivate empathy in everyday life, it is important to practice active listening and try to
understand others without judgment. Pay attention to non-verbal cues and emotions, and
show genuine interest in others’ experiences. Be willing to offer support and help when
needed. Engage in acts of service and volunteer work to develop a sense of empathy
towards different communities and individuals. Service is simple – do unto others what
you expect them to do unto you, in every situation. Selfless service is not just a charitable
act but a transformative practice that enriches both the giver and the receiver. It is in
reaching out to others, understanding their struggles, and extending a helping hand that
you discover the profound interconnectedness of all beings.
Showing respect and understanding in your interactions with everyone is important.
Continuously strive for personal growth and self-improvement, by being open-minded
and willing to learn from others. Being an example worth emulating is a lifelong journey,
and it requires consistent effort and self-reflection.
