Dedication to the Nation: Infosys Supports Rural Healthcare
On June 19, 2025, the sacred grounds of Sathya Sai Grama bore witness to a landmark moment as the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR), in collaboration with the Infosys Foundation, formally launched a transformative rural healthcare initiative titled “Dedication to the Nation: Infosys Supports Rural Healthcare.” This endeavour reflects the spirit of One World, One Family—a world bound together in compassion, equity, and the collective aspiration for well-being.
The ceremony was honoured by the presence of two esteemed chief dignitaries:
- Dr Sharan Prakash Rudrappa Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education & Skill Development, Government of Karnataka
- Mr Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar, Trustee, Infosys Foundation
Their gracious presence underscored the unity of governance, philanthropy, and spiritual service in addressing one of India’s most pressing needs—accessible and dignified healthcare for all.
A Tribute to the Ethos of Dāsōhaṃ
In his address, the Hon’ble Minister, Dr Sharan Prakash Rudrappa Patil, recalled the Bharatiya tradition of selfless giving. His reflections served as a spiritual invocation, reminding all gathered that healthcare, in its highest form, is a sacred act of offering.
“Always it has been the tradition of our land where Dāsōhaṃ is considered to be one of the most important aspects of our life. Giving to others will bring us joy—this is a concept that Babaji (Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba) has also propagated.”
His heartfelt message not only acknowledged the foundational principles of the mission but also aligned them with the ancient dharmic wisdom of India.
A Collective Vision for Transformative Impact
Mr Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar, the Trustee of the Infosys Foundation, articulated the Foundation’s vision with outstanding clarity and conviction. Emphasising the programme’s deep focus on maternal and child health, he noted:
“In every society, the health of mothers and their children is the cornerstone of progress and prosperity. When mothers are healthy, and the children receive the care they need, the entire community strives… This initiative is expected to benefit over 8000 individuals annually. This grant is a testament to a collective vision and determination to make a meaningful impact.”
His words reflected the strength of a partnership grounded not just in funding but in shared intent and a commitment to serving the most vulnerable.
Strengthening Healthcare at the Grassroots
The programme aims to elevate the standard of rural healthcare through mobile medical units, upgraded primary health centres, and robust preventive health outreach. A special focus will be placed on maternal and child wellness, early detection of illness, and timely medical attention. These efforts are envisioned as long-term investments in the strength and vitality of rural communities.
Technology-Enabled Care
With the support of the Infosys Foundation, the initiative will implement technology-led solutions, including telemedicine portals, real-time ambulance tracking, and digitised patient health records—thus ensuring speed, consistency, and connectedness in healthcare delivery.

Reflecting on the deeper purpose of this initiative, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai shared a timeless perspective:
“Definitely, anything done for society is not an expense; for me, everything is an investment. Whatever money has been spent, energy, time, and effort are an investment in the future of our children, our country and the world.”
