The Navaratri celebrations at Sathya Sai Grama were a profound blend of worship, ritual, discourse, and cultural splendour. Over the days, thousands of devotees experienced the sanctity of Vedic rituals, the joy of artistic offerings, and the transformative guidance of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai. The culmination of the festivities reflected not just tradition but a living embodiment of devotion, service, and spiritual renewal.
Divine Worship to the Mother Goddess
One of the most powerful highlights was the worship of Devi Chandikā Parameśvarī, also revered as Chamundi, the slayer of Chanda and Munda. The sacred Chandika Homa was performed, accompanied by the chanting of the Durga Saptashati—700 verses that glorify the Divine Mother. The vibrations of these chants, coupled with offerings such as Paramānna (sweet rice) and Pumpkin Bali, invoked divine grace for spiritual growth, protection, and prosperity.
The Ayudha Pooja on the same day brought a deep reminder that every tool and instrument we use—whether simple or sophisticated—can become sacred when employed in the service of dharma.
In his benediction, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai gave a powerful message:
“At a sacred place like Muddenahalli, preceded by the Lord Himself, one does not need elaborate purification. The true purity lies in surrender—when the disciple places everything at the feet of the Guru, knowledge flows effortlessly.”

A defining moment of the celebrations was the consecration of the Uma Maheshwara Temple at Sathya Sai Grama. The rituals began with worship offered to the Dwaja Stambha, revered as the symbolic spine of the temple, linking human consciousness to the Divine. The idols underwent Pushpādhivāsam, where they were immersed in fragrant flowers, signifying sanctification through nature’s abundance.
The Granthanyasa Pooja, Yantra Prathistha, Kumbhabhishekam, and Prana Pratishtha elevated the atmosphere, transforming stone idols into vibrant embodiments of divine energy. With Vedic chants resonating, devotees witnessed the moment when the sanctum awakened as the living abode of Shiva, Parvati, and their holy family.
Sadguru beautifully explained that this temple was not merely about stone and ritual, but about reviving a timeless tradition:
“In ancient times, kings and noble families would adopt temples as their sacred duty. Today, every family must rise to that responsibility.”
He also recalled how, during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, he had a divine vision of Shiva and Parvati assuring their protection. This inspiration led to the building of the temple and the establishment of the Veda Pāṭhaśālā, where young students are trained to preserve and spread Vedic knowledge.

Recognising Social Responsibility and Leadership
The celebrations also honoured individuals and organisations that embody service and social impact.
The CSR Circle of Honour recognised three distinguished institutions:
- Kernex Microsystems Limited, a Hyderabad-based company known for railway safety innovations, also supports healthcare and education through its CSR initiatives.
- Lloyds Technology Centre, for its commitment to education and nutrition, including support to the Annapoorna Trust’s morning nutrition programme and girls’ empowerment projects.
- Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), the nation’s largest life insurer, has contributed to education, healthcare, vocational training, and disaster relief. Among its many initiatives, the foundation supported the construction of a school building at the Shivamogga campus, empowering children with quality education.

In his discourses throughout the celebrations, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai emphasised timeless truths while addressing modern challenges. He reminded all that the essence of the scriptures lies in simplicity:
“To do good to others is merit; to harm others is sin.”
He spoke of the culture of selfless service that defines the mission: unlike the corporate mindset of “what can I get,” here the spirit is always “what can I give.” This spirit, he explained, makes the mission unique and beyond replication in a corporate framework.
On leadership, he underlined:
“Fearlessness is leadership. Selflessness is leadership. Unless you believe in a cause and give it everything, nothing significant happens.”
Sadguru also reflected on the duality of technology. The Ati Rudra Mahāyajña was performed with unparalleled devotion, where over 150 priests conducted more than 20 homas, including 121 Rudra Homas with over 14,600 Rudram chants. The One World One Family World Cultural Festival featured Deva-Gatha, a performance by Padma Vibhushan Dr Sonal Mansingh and her troupe. Through the timeless story of the Dashavatara, they wove mythology, movement, and devotion into a living dialogue with the Divine. Each portrayal reminded devotees that art is not mere performance, but worship in motion.
On the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami, the students and staff of Nada Gurukulam offered a devotional musical journey, celebrating the eternal victory of light over darkness. Their soulful performance resonated with purity and discipline, embodying the very values the Gurukulam seeks to instil in young seekers.
