The Navaratri celebrations at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli, continue to radiate divine grace and cultural splendour through the Athi Rudra Mahāyajña. Each day unfolds as a confluence of devotion, spiritual wisdom, and artistic excellence, drawing devotees closer to the essence of Sanātana Dharma.
Sacred Rituals and Divine Worship
The Athi Rudra Mahāyajña has seen sacred offerings like the Rudrabhishekam, Durga Pūjā, Dhanvantari Homa, Viṣṇusahasranāma Homa, Lalita Sahasranāma Homa, Suvasini and Kanya Pūjā, and the Lakshmi Narasimha Homa. Each ritual has been a prayer for health, prosperity, protection, and spiritual upliftment, weaving together devotion and discipline. The abhishekam, with its flowing waters and chants of the Rudram, symbolised the cleansing of mind and heart, while the pūjās to Maa Kūṣmāṇḍā, Skandamātā, and Katyayani honoured the nurturing and protective forms of the Divine Mother.
Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai offered profound insights that anchored the worship in timeless wisdom. He reminded devotees that in the churn of life, both nectar and poison emerge, and true strength lies in handling both with equanimity. On another occasion, he stressed the Sanātana Dharma principle: “Speak truth. Speak pleasantly. Don’t speak truth in an unpleasant way. At the same time, do not speak pleasant untruths.” His words urged seekers to embrace truth with sweetness, balancing honesty with compassion.

The CSR Circle of Honour recognised companies that have extended their social responsibility towards community upliftment. Sasken Technologies was honoured for supporting the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Morning Nutrition Programme, benefitting thousands of children. Anjali Jewellers was commended for their long-standing contributions to healthcare and wellness initiatives, while ABB Group was recognised for sponsoring life-saving medical equipment. These recognitions highlighted the growing partnership between corporate responsibility and spiritual service.
Words of Inspiration
Distinguished guests added further grace to the celebrations. Padma Sri V R Gowrishankar described Muddenahalli as “heaven on earth,” acknowledging Sadguru’s vision in reviving ancient traditions for modern times. Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Member of Parliament Sri Basavaraj Bommai inspired the audience with his words: “It’s important to know the purpose of life. The moment you discover your path and goal; you find a lasting source of inspiration. And when you learn to master your inner strength, it becomes your greatest achievement.”
Blossoming of Cultural Expressions
The evenings came alive with soul-stirring cultural offerings. The dance presentation Aahawaan by Smt Tanusree Shankar, Smt Sreenanda Shankar, and the group invoked Goddess Durga through graceful movements and vibrant rhythms. Every gesture seemed a collective prayer, embodying the courage, tenderness, and radiance of Shakti.
The following evening resounded with the Carnatic vocal recital by Vidushis Ranjani and Gayatri, supported by accomplished accompanists. Their mellifluous voices and soulful Abhangs lifted the audience into divine contemplation. Sadguru reminded everyone: “When She guides us, there are no mistakes. We are born to do something and recognising and following that purpose is all that we need to do.”
Another cultural highlight was the grand presentation of Meenakshi Kalyanam, a dance drama by the legendary Dr Padma Subrahmanyam and Shri Vineeth Radhakrishnan, along with a dedicated troupe of disciples. Through expressive storytelling, the production portrayed the celestial wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Meenakshi, blending history, mythology, and devotion into an unforgettable performance.
Nada Gurukulam – A Temple of Arts
Adding a new dimension to the celebrations was the inauguration of the Nada Gurukulam under the aegis of Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence. The Gurukulam was graced by Dr Padma Subrahmanyam and singers Kunal and Gayatri Ganjawala as chief guests.
Conceived as a temple of knowledge, the Gurukulam will nurture talent in music, dance, and performing arts, helping young aspirants blend discipline, devotion, and excellence. Courses in Hindustani and Carnatic vocal music, instrumental training in tabla, mridangam, and flute, and classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam will form the core curriculum. Rooted in the vision of Nada Brahma—sound as divine—the Gurukulam aims not only to cultivate artistic skills but also to impart the wisdom of living through the arts.
